At the moment the only answer i can give is to use a different shade of grey (or some any other color than grey).
im fairly sure there is a bug filed for this so please try to find it and add your votes. http://bugzilla.abisource.com if you are a programmer (or you know some one who is, or sponsor a developer) maybe you would help provide the necessary code to fix this problem.
