Abiword is licenesed under the Gnu General Public license (GPL) a copy of which is displayed by the installer and should be included i a file called Licenses.txt Alternatively it is available from gnu.org http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.html
For general use you do not even need to agree with the GPL and standard Copyright applies. The GPL grant you additional rights to copyright which only really comes into play for (users or) developers you wish to modify and distribute abiword. In the situation you describe you may install as many copies of abiword as you wish. If you want to distribute abiword unchanged that is also allowed. Definately read the GPL for more information. If you have any further questions feel free to ask them on the user mailing list. I may have overcomplicated this a little but really you have a lot of freedom i how you use abiword. We would very much like to hear back from you, as some of the developers are interested in putting together a list of Abiword success stories.
