Good suggestion, and sorry to as what appears to have been asked before. This did get me past the errors. I then added the AbiWord font directory to /etc/X11/XF86Config, and that took care of the font problems. I'm still getting a *lot* of crashes, though. They seem to be triggered very frequently by deleting text and then inserting a page break, or by making changes to a stylesheet and then clicking "OK" to close the main style dialog. Given that I just upgraded from an older version, is there anything to gain by exporting my AbiWord document to another file format, then re-importing it to get AbiWord to regenerate the file effectively from scratch? Thanks for such a quick response to my question -- and on a weekend, yet. AbiWord looks great, and I'm really impressed that it can export DocBook format, which I need to do when this document is finished. If I can get the reliability to improve, this will be a winning app for me.
