Will AbiWord accept a windows metafile (WMF) graphic? This might be another option if so. (I don't know the answer to that question offhand.) WMF is a vector format and would probably produce better scaled output to the printer than a PNG would, if in fact this format is an option for AbiWord. It's a Micros~1 proprietary format, so I don't take that as a given.
