Hi,

Running an app constructed with Access 2000 that allows some peers to
update a web site using an Access form that updates a database
backend which serves as data source for a web page.

I use SQL queries to pull data into the form where it gets edited in
some identical tables on a front end db and then, when ready, pushed
back out to the backend database. The front end and back end are two
otherwise separate Access db's. I have no active links to tables,
but use SQL statements to move data.

We recently upgraded the server this db lives on from Windows 2000 to
2003, and now when the front end form is opened the web display is
locked out while the front end is connected. That used to not be the
case. I am surprised as I use SQL statements to get the data and
that is not a persistent activity. It would seem that Access is now
maintaining a persistent link through the use of SQL statements.

The SQL statements are most commonly used as row source statemets to
lists or forms.

Any insights or experience on this?

Thanks in advance.
