Cathy -

Try creating a new blank database, and then import all your 2000 objects
into it. Just a thought.

Subject: RE: [AccessDevelopers] General performance question

Hi TJ
Yes, that was the first thing I did after conversion.
I've been going through each report in the largest of 4 databases
setting one specific proerty, so I've been doing the same thing over and
over and the slowness is really obvious. I open the report in
development mode - it takes a second or two to show the report, then
another maybe 5 seconds to change to the appropriate toolbars, during
which time my drive access light flickers rhythmically. Everything then
takes 2 or 3 seconds - sometimes more, to respond. Doesn't sound like a
lot when you say it quickly, but it's amazing how frustrating it is.
I wonder whether it's a function of number of objects, because the
smaller databases don't seems so tooth-grindingly slow. But i'm not
talking thousands of forms here - maybe 2 or 3 hundred objects
altogether. That can't be too much for 2003 to cope with, surely? I
can stil open pre-conversion copies of the databases with 2000 and
gallop along.
Cheers
Cathy
