I support Hal's solution here.
Put his IIF() statement into the report.
That will maintain the Date field type integrity
in your table, but give you the printed output that you want.

I admit to not being the brightest bulb in the box
but I cannot make
this work. What I want is for the report to
print out with the word
Unknown in the date field if it is empty in the
table.
Talk to me like I have no idea what I'm doing and
maybe I can get
it. :)
