Dear List,
Thanks to all you good samaritans trying to help me,,
however I am still having difficulties with this
issue.
I am developing a Geographic Information System (GIS)
using ArcView GIS 9.1.
ArcView 9.1 uses an Access Geodatabase as its data
storage platform.
The GIS will be using information from an Access DB
that contains Rehabilitated Water Supply Systems. This
database has been completed and I have imported this
database into the ArcView 9.1 Geodatabase.
I will be using the term Geodatabase to refer to the
GIS Access DB from now on.
It is recommended that the Geodatabase not be edited
in ArcView as data can be corrupted very easily.
Furthermore, all descriptive information will be
updated in the Access Db and all spatial (Point
features representing boreholes and water supply
systems)information will be updated in the
Geodatabase.
The challenge then is to keep both sets of data
updated at the same time. Each time the Access db is
updated, the Geodatabase must also be updated and vice
versa.
I have therefore decided to create several append
queries that will append the access db tables with
data from the Geodatabase tables and queries from the
Access DB that will append data in the Geodatabase.
I would like the user to use a VB form containing
several buttons (in the ArcView application) to update
each of the tables in the Access DB without having to
open the Geodatabase to run the queries.
I am told if I use a Macro it can help simplify
matters quite easily, I will be most grateful for your
help.
Thanks in advance.
Irshad
