When you say "change the batch number", I hope you don't mean that they would literally edit the batch number for all payments in a batch.
Perhaps you mean that you want the user to be able to select a batch number from the existing values, and change which one is selected. For this, you could use a combo box with all of the batch numbers, and have that combo box requery as needed, to populate with any new batches created. >From there, you can use the batch selected as criteria for your report.
