Peter, I ordered the Visual Studio 2005 Beta 2 for $5.99 (shipping and handling) and am learning on that. Amazing program. There are a lot of books on the topic. I took Microsoft's 2310 course and it was very helpful. I can send you some book titles if you like. Very amazing stuff.

I've also heard that it may be easier to use C# than VB.NET if you are use to VB6, as quite a bit has changed in vb and it can be confusing, so if you have any C, C++ or Java background, C# is probably the way to go.
