If this database is located on a shared server and the database was compacted/repaired, the user who compacted the database now has taken ownership of the database and the server security permissions will lock out all users resulting in this error.  If this is the scenario, you need to Right Click on the folder where the database is located and push down the security permission for that folder.   Hope this helps. m ----- Original Message ----- From: danec2u To: AccessDevelopers@yahoogroups.com Sent: Wednesday, January 25, 2006 2:41 PM Subject: [AccessDevelopers] Can't open database Users are getting the following error when at least 2 users try opening a database: "couldn't use u:\parts.mdb file already in use"  any suggestions?  but I can get in at anytime with no problem, it was created from this computer.
