Hi John, Sony EVI-D70 cameras support the VISCA protocol (a Sony creation). There are many ways in both software and hardware to control these cameras. I use Canon VC-C4s so my experience is not directly applicable, but it should be the same for the Sony cams.
VISC is a serial protocol (since it runs over RS-232) so you can daisy-chain your cameras all to one serial port. You should be able to use any VISCA-compliant software application. I use a hardware controller - a Telemetrics CP-ITV-VC4. See http://www.telemetricsinc.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=fl ypage-telem.tpl&product_id=186&category_id=52&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=6 for it's replacement - the CP-ITV-D300. This states that it is EVI-D70 compatible. You obviously need the proper cables. Look for VISCA, cable & EVI-D70 in Google, you should find tons of hits. Note, the cable from your controller (either PC or hardware device) is DB-9 at one end and an 8-pin mini-DIN at the other. The interconnect cables are 8-pin mini-DIN at both ends.
