Todd: An unrelated bug has been filed against vic on OSX:
http://bugzilla.mcs.anl.gov/accessgrid/show_bug.cgi?id=1673 but as part of it, a new executable has been built with some new network-related code. It would be great if you could run some tests with this newer executable.
