ArtGrid Seminar - Wednesday, November 1st, 11:00 EST (UTC -5, 9:00 MST, 8:00 PST)
Virtual Theatre: Distributed Performance Over the Internet Over the past three years, the Virtual Theatre project at RIT has explored the process, technology, and collaborations involved in the presentation of a theatrical performance in a shared distributed virtual space. Our system, built on top of a gaming engine, has been used to explore distributed theatrical paradigms over a local area network and has served as a primary motivation for interdisciplinary collaboration between art and technology students. In this talk, we focus on the technical infrastructure and philosophies behind the system and discuss our future plans as we move from a local area network to distributing the performance over Internet 2.
