Hi Everyone, I am embarking on the task of bringing many new, and some jaundiced users to the AG. (Some have tried and never had succesfull meetings, so I need help to make this work really well.) The current issue that we are up against is someone installing AG2.3 on a vanilla Thinkpad41 - with vanilla (aka default) settings for norton virus. He consistently gets the 'cannot connect to the venue server' message.
He also gets a message from Norton saying 'we have detected and internet worm - pythonw' but we have blocked it. In the first case, we went through the archived ag-tech list and deleted teh PYTHONCASEOK environment setting - he followed up with the suggestions from the AG tech archive, but still he cannot connect. ideas? our email thread is below. I will see if I can get the log - but even the Norton issue sounds funny - this with Norton 2005. Thanks, Julie ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: David A. I removed the following 4 system environment variables, and removed Python22 from my Path below. THen I turned off Windows Firewall, and I disabled Norton AntiVirus. Still, I cannot connect to the Venues. -david PYTHONCASEOK 1 PYTHONPATH %SystemDrive%\IBMTOOLS\utils\support;%SystemDrive%\IBMTOOLS\utils\logger TCL_LIBRARY %SystemDrive%\IBMTOOLS\Python22\tcl\tcl8.4 TK_LIBRARY %SystemDrive%\IBMTOOLS\Python22\tcl\tk8.4 Path C:\Python23\.;C:\PROGRAM FILES\THINKPAD\UTILITIES;%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI Control Panel;C:\Program Files\SecureCRT\;C:\PROGRA~1\SecureFX;c:\texmf\miktex\bin;c:\Program Files\Ghostgum\gsview;c:\ispell\bin;%SystemDrive%\IBMTOOLS\Python22;C:\Program Files\PC-Doctor for Windows\ Julia Mullen wrote: >Hi David - > >Here is another link to the thread for Thinkpad 43 item: > >http://www-unix.mcs.anl.gov/web-mail-archive/lists/ag-tech/2005/06/msg00092.html > >let me know if you can get to this link.
