Dear Chris, We have integrate MPEG4 codec into vic last year. The modified vic also support 720x480 resolution (the largest resolution depends on your grabber) You can download from this site. http://vic.nchc.org.tw/update_history.htm
Also, VP team also released video producer and consumer services using MPEG4-enabled vic http://slap.anu.edu.au:8200/downloads/mpeg4/psc_project_view Recently, we have done some efforts to optimize H264 codec from VLC's X264 library. Plan to release H264-enable vic in the late June. However, due to higher complexity, currently H264 is much suitable for very low bit rate cases than real-time HDTV transmission. I also came across the high-quality video service for AG ( http://netmedia.gist.ac.kr/agdv/) and this paper (http://www-unix.mcs.anl.gov/fl/flevents/ag/agr04/talks/kim-gist-paper.pdf). Is anyone using this software (or others) to do dv or hdv teleconferencing? Even better, has anyone integrated dv or hdv into their AG node? I think something was demo'ed a while back? I know there has been some discussion lately about AG3. Is there a plan for moving away from vic into something that will support higher quality video? Thanks for the help.
