The National Science Foundation's new RFP, Broadening Participation in Computing (BPC) #NSF 05-562, is designed to increase diversity in computing. There is a need to make sure the IT community is aware of this opportunity and as a result, there will be two opportunities to learn more about the BPC program either during a face to face meeting or via the access grid .
There will be a meeting held on April 13, 2005 in Baltimore, MD to discuss the BPC program and provide potential PIs with the chance to meet and hear about existing efforts. The meeting will be held at the Radisson Plaza Lord Baltimore Hotel. Some travel support will be available. On April 20th there will be an Access Grid presentation/discussion on the program for those unable to attend the meeting in Baltimore. The meeting will be held from 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. in the NSF Special Event Virtual Venue (it is located in "The World" venue off the NCSA Lobby). For those who would like to participate but do not have an access grid, please review the list of access grid sites at this URL http://www.accessgrid.org/community/nodes/nodes-us.html and contact the node operator at that site. Those that can not participate at an Access Grid site can call in to a conference call, at 1-877-416-3610. That number requires a pass code that can be obtained from Jan Cuny at jc...@nsf.gov. Details and logistics for the meeting and Grid presentation will be announced in a Dear Colleague letter on the CISE home page. For more information please contact Jan Cuny, NSF, at jc...@nsf.gov. http://agschedule.ncsa.uiuc.edu/meetingdetails.asp?MID=8640
