I was curious to know how many people are able to use multicast for joining Access Grid sessions. So I created a simple 1-question survey that asked how often you are able to connect to AG sessions using multicast.
The main finding is that 75% of the responders (91 AG users) reported that they are able to use multicasting for their sessions all or most of the time. Only 20% of the participants report never or usually not being able to use multicasting. There were problems reported with multicasting, however, and differing attitudes towards the use of unicast bridges. I have prepared a web page describing all the results: http://www.andrewpatrick.ca/multicast-survey/ Please have a look and discuss if you wish. -- Andrew Patrick, Ph.D. Senior Scientist Information Security Group, Institute for Information Technology National Research Council (NRC), Ottawa, Canada E-mail: [email protected] WWW - NRC: http://iit-iti.nrc-cnrc.gc.ca WWW - Personal: http://www.andrewpatrick.ca Phone: (613) 991-3374 Fax: (613) 952-7151 Cell/SMS: (613) 277-9211
