Hi,

i wonder if anyone can help with an AG problem.

I have put toghter several access grids based around 3 PC systems using XP, and
so far they have all worked fine, with straighforward install and setup.

This latest one i am having problems with, in that the Rat client does not
recognise the onboard sound card with the mainboard i am using for the
audiocapture PC. All i get is a "no audio" option in the device selection menu
of the rat software. Note that the soundcard appears to be working fine under
XP, for mic record and playback, and is running the latest drivers.

I cant find anything in the doco for the onboard soundcard that states it is
"full duplex" but its a latemodel board so it should be. theres nothing i can
find in the config software options that has any effect on how rat sees it.

main board is Asus P5GD1 pro, with XPpro sp2

Audio specs listed

High Definition Audio
Intel high definition audio
Realtek ALC861 8 channel CODEC with Jack sensing and Universal Audio Jack (UAJ)
technology
S/PDIF out interface.

Note that the manual specifically states it is AC97 2.3 compatiable.

There are 6 3.5 ports on the rear of the mainboard, configurable to a vairiety
of channel outputs with the config software

I understand there may be an enviromental var to force an AC97 recognition, if
the soundcard type is not hardcoded in the RAT version.

Cany anyone provide details on that for XP, or anyone has advice or any
thoughts any help would be muchly appreciated.

Thanks
