I ended up figuring the problem out. The instructions on the AG web site states, "...type in a Jabber ID (a name you want to be called on Jabber in the format [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>) and a password." So I typed in [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>. Finally, my grokking process kicked and I typed in [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>. Now all is well.
