Yes, my suggestion would involved a sponsored accessibility mini-conference for LibreOffice accessibility team members (including devs) as well as invited 3rd party stakeholders. This would isolate the accessibility section and help focus more on it particular issues without, as you point out, any distractions.
Maybe this could be put on the accessibility wishlist.
