A few tips.
The more higher you climb on the version of your screen reader the more
sluggish will be its response.
Pick the version which is responsive enough and meets your requirements.
MS office also contributes significantly in slowing down the system.
Don't keep many windows open simultaneously.
Dont keep many services running, i.e. many chat clients up.
If you are copying a big chunk in your clipboard. Take care to clear it up
when you are done with it.
Dont install apps untill unless it is really important.
Regularly scandisk and defrag
The best of systems turns crawlling in about 6 months to year time.
Formatting is the oly cure for this ailment.

Harish.
