The message appended to Mamta's post should not be misread. That is Tom's
message and the complete message is as follows. I believe that we might let
this sad news as well as the departed soul rest in peace and close the
thread for the time being unless something new comes up. (My personal
opinion)

A number of people have asked, so I thought I would add a little more
information about why Debbie passed away.

It wasn't her health problems.

Debbie and I had taken to riding a tandem bicycle. We really loved it as we
could ride and talk and laugh and we had a wonderful time for every mile.
She really enjoyed being out on the bike. Her health had improved and we
rode over 9000 miles in the last year. She had started dialysis but we were
in a wonderful program that put a dialysis machine in our home and I was
trained to do it. It really gave us her life back.

On Thursday morning we were out for one of our rides and were involved in a
small accident. A woman turned right on red without looking and ran into us,
knocking us down. It was just a little accident and although we were
bruised, it was nothing, or so we thought. We got back on the bike and rode
another 35 miles that day.

Unfortunately, what we did not know is that a very small blood vessel in her
brain had ruptured in the accident. Even if we had known, there was nothing
that the doctors could do. She went to sleep on Friday and never woke up
again. She died peacefully at home, as she would have wanted.

I want to thank everyone for their compassion and wonderful emails. I've
heard so many stories about how Debbie changed peoples lives, from all over
the world. It has been really uplifting and I've shared it with our
daughters (13 and 14) so they know even more what a wonderful mother she
was.

Thanks to all,

Tom Scales
