Blind since childhood, 46 year old Dipendra Manocha has used technology to
build a communications and training infrastructure that enables the
disabled to put their abilities to work alongside other citizens in the
mainstream society. Started working at the National Association for the
Blind, a voluntary organization, where he came across a computer embedded
with a speech synthesizer and screen-reading software, Dipender left no
stone unturned in researching and bringing the best of technology to the
country. His brilliant networking skills along with his association with
Indian Institute of Technology- Delhi gave birth to Saksham- an
organization to empower the blind. Today he has more than 80 technology
solutions to his credit. From Audio Label Machines that helps in
segregating things to Digital talking books, to smart phones and even a
talking thermometer, Dipendra has made the impossible possible for many!
