hello,
few months ago, friend of myne asked me to explain the steps to book
the Eticket through IRCTC, so i have prepared the detailed
instructions for him. so forwarding the same instructions for your
reference here. kindly ignore the mistakes, if any.
To book the railway concessional Eticket follow the below mentioned steps
(a) login steps:
1. first logon to:
www.irctc.co.in
2. once the page loads fully, press letter E to go to username field
and press enter to activate it.
3. here type your username.
4. press tab to go to password field and press enter to activate this
field. Here type your password.
5. now press tab to go to the checkbox that says Please select OTP
only in case of Visually impaired User checkbox not checked and press
space bar to check this checkbox.
6. now press tab to go to login button and press enter.
7. now on the next screen that loads, press letter E to go to the
field that says OTP EDIT here press enter to activate this field.
8. here OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number which you
have provided to IRCTC. enter the OTP sent to you on your said
registered mobile number.
9. press tab to go to varify button and press enter.
10. once you enter the correct OTP, you will be loged in to IRCTC successfully.
(B) booking Eticket steps:
1. now you should here something like E ticketing, welcome.
2. on this page, you have the options like station from, to, date etc.
3. to start enterting this data, press letter E and now you should
hear like From Station*: edit. Here press enter to activate this
field.
2. now here type the source station code if you already know the same
else type few characters of the station like mumbai and press enter.
3. once you enter this information, you will be automatically
presented the matching stations based on you have just typed the
characters. You can read this information by moving your arrow keys.
4. So if you are satisfied with the results, then press letter E to
go to the next field i.e. To Station* : edit and here again type the
destination station code if you already know the same else type the
few characters of the station. Now for instance, New delhi and press
enter to see the matching results.
5. once you are satisfied with the result, press letter E again to go
to the fieled that says Journey Date* :
dd-mm-yyyy
this means type the date of journey in the format dd-mm-yyyy. So here
here press enter to activate it.
for instance, for 1st feb, 2016 enter the date as 01-02-2016 format.
6. now press letter x to go to checkbox that says Flexible with Date
and again press letter x to go to the checkbox that says I'll book in
Handicap concession. This checkbox is unchecked by default so press
space bar to check it.
7. now after checking this checkbox, you should here the message like
handicapped and escort needs to carry the railway concession id at the
time of journey for the varification so press enter on ok button to
close this dialog box.
8. now press tab to go to submit button and press enter to activate
it. You can also press letter b to locate this button.
9. now based on the information we have just submited i.e. from
mumbhai to new delhi for 1st, feb 2016 as above, we have the several
trains available for this date and route which is presented in the
table format on this screen.
10. you can navigate between this table by pressing the letter t on
this page. Once you are in this table, you have several information
like Train Name, From, Departure, To, Arrival, Dist.(Km), Travel
Time etc.
11. so in this table, there is first train available is 9023 FZR JANATA EXP.
12. so keep pressing the down arrow to read more on this table. Just
below this train number and name, there are classes available for this
trains in the link format. For instance, sl for sleeper class, 2s for
2nd sitting.
13. so press enter on sl if you wish to book the ticket in sleeper
class for this train.
14. after clicking on the desired class, you will be presented the
status for the availability of particular date for the selected
train.
15. now go to the top of the page by pressing control plus home to
read all the information.
16. now press letter t twice to go to the availability table and now
press arrow keys.
17. now you will hear the status of at list 6 days starting from your
journey date. For instance, 01 feb 2016 2 feb 2016 3 feb 2016 etc.
18. now below each date, there will be link entitled book now. So
based on your date of choice, press enter on book now link.
19. now new page will be opened to fill up the passenger’s details,
seat preference, gender, concession id card no., date of birth, etc.
20. now press letter E to go to the first field and press enter. You
should hear name* edit. This is the fieled to enter your name Here
enter the exact name printed on your concession card. To enter the
first passenger i.e. the person availing the concession.
(Blind/Handicapped).
21. now press tab and you should hear age* edit. Here enter the age in
numerical format.
22. press tab to go to the gender combo box and press arrow keys to
select your gender.
23. press tab to go to the combo box to select the seat preference.
Here press the arrow keys to choose the seat i.e. lower, middle, upper
etc.
24. now press tab to go to category of the person i.e. handicapped or
escort. Here select the handicapped with arrow keys.
25. now press tab and you should hear handicapped card no. edit. Here
press enter to activate this edit field.
26. now here enter the card number entered on your concession card
including the printed number and the handwritten number. This should
be alphanumeric code. For instance, ABCDE000093.
27. now press tab and you should hear dob dd-mm-yyyy edit. Here press
enter to activate this edit field.
28. here enter your date of birht in dd-mm-yyyy format. For instance,
1st June, 1985 as 01-06-1985
29. now press tab and you should hear valid up to dd-mm-yyyy edit.
Here press enter to activate this edit box.
30. now enter the date of expiry of your concession card as printed on
it in the format
dd-mm-yyyy and press enter.
31. now press down arrow couple of time until you hear 2 and press
again the down arrow and you should here edit. Here press enter to
activate this edit box.
32. this is the edit field to enter the name of your escort. Type the
name of the escort here.
33. press tab and you should hear age* edit. Here enter the age of your escort.
34. press tab to go to the gender combo box and choose the same.
35. press tab to go to the seat preference bombo box and make your
selection.
36. press tab to choose the category of the person from this combo box
and choose escort.
37. press tab and you should hear handicapped card no. edit. Here do
not attempt to reenter your card details as it is taken by default as
you have entered above.
38. press tab and you should hear dob dd-mm-yyyy format. Here again
this is the field to enter your date of birth. So do not attempt to
reenter this again as your date of birth is already taken as you have
entered above.
39. press tab and you should hear valid up to dd-mm-yyyy edit. Again
do not attempt to reenter anything here.
40. now press tab and you should hear id card type. This is the combo
box so choose any available id card which your escort can carry along
with the journey.
41. now press tab and you should hear id card no.* edit. Here enter
the id card no. based on the card you have selected and press enter.
42. now keep pressing letter E multiple times until you hear OTP EDIT.
Here press enter to activate this edit box and enter the OTP as sent
to your registered mobile number.
43. now press tab twice and you should hear mobile no. edit. Here your
registered mobile number is already shown. If you wish to change this
number to other one, then delete this number and type the new number
as you desire.
44. now press tab and you should hear next button. Here press enter.
45. now the final page gets opened containing all the information in
tables format as below:
[A] navigate to 1st table by pressing the letter t. here in this table
you will get the journey details along with the train details and the
date, class etc.
[b] so press letter t to go to 2nd table. In this table, you will get
the information of the passenger’s name, gender, age, and card
details.
[c] press letter t again to reach in 3rd table. In this table, you
will get the information of the current booking status, for instance,
confirmed or waitlist.
[d] press letter t again to reach in 4th table. In this table, you
will get the information on the total fare including the online
booking charges.
[e] press letter t again to reach in 5th table. This is the table to
choose your mode of payment i.e. the bank account through which you
would like to make payment. In this table, various names of the banks
are listed in radio button format so choose your bank by pressing
space bar on it.
46. now press letter b and you should here back button. This is useful
if you wish to modify the data for your reservation. So press letter b
again to reach on make payment button and press enter.
47. now wait for few secands until your bank account login page fully loaded.
48. here enter the user name and password provided by your bank and
submit the information.
49. now you should be loged in to your bank account page. Now follow
the steps to make the payment depending on your bank login interface.
50. after successful payment by your bank, you are again redirected to
IRCTC Ppage on which you have your ticket presented.
51. finally, after booking your ticket, press insert+f7 to go to link
list and press letter s until you here signout and press enter on it
to logout from IRCTC.
So congratulations! You have successfully booked your ticket.
