Most probably you have to press the fn (function) key with f1 or f2 keu. Fn key is normally beside the left ctrl key. For instance, for time press fn+insert+f12.

There should be an option in the bios setting for disabling hot keys.

one of my friend purchased new Lenovo laptop but it is difficult to use function key such as f1 to f12, by using screen reader, even it is not announcing time and date when we press insert + f12 by NVDA screen reader.

so please guide how to use them, I haven't tried with jaws yet.
