Hi all, Greetings from The Blind Graduates Forum of India (BGFI)! BGFI is back with yet another interesting program with a visit to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya!
About the Museum: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya, formerly known as the Prince of Wales Museum of Western India, is one of the premier art and history museum in India. Situated on the southern tip of Mumbai on the 'Crescent Site', the Museum building is a fine example of the Indo-Saracenic style of architecture. Today this building is listed as a Grade I Heritage Building and has been awarded the '2010 UNESCO Asia – Pacific Heritage Award' for Cultural Heritage Conservation. It has been awarded first place for Heritage Building Maintenance by the Indian Heritage Society. The Museum offers a perfect leisure day out for all its visitors where you can engage with a world-class art collection and participate in fun-n-learn activities. The Museum has almost 30 artefacts with a detailed audio description available for each and every artefact, thus making this a very interesting as well as fully accessible experience for persons with vision impairment. So what are you waiting for? Join us for a fun-filled experience on the 24th of December 2016 at 10:30am. There is no entry fee for persons with vision impairment yet a charge of 40 rupees shall be payable for availing the audio description service. As it will be a day off for certain Museum staff, we encourage participants to come with their escorts if possible. There's an entry fee of 70 rupees for every escort. The museum can be conveniently reached by taking Bus 111 from CST and bus 106 from Chirchgate stations or by taxi service. The slots are limited so please register yourself by giving a call to Santosh (+919930775758) or Abhimanyu (+919819259421).
