Email from Mr. anil Arneja
Sir, Congratulations on this wonderful success as also thanks for your kind words about the advocacy work of AICB. You may recall that in the recent months, AICB has won as many as four important judicial activism cases involving a number of issues. We have won the LIC case in the Delhi High Court as a consequence of which now the post of Assistant Administrative Officer, which was earlier denied to the blind in Life Insurance Corporation, would now stand identified and open to reservation. Our second important gain has been the case against Allahabad University and our success in getting an advertisement, issued by that University for 293 teaching vacancies quashed as the University did not provide any reservation for persons with disabilities. The University has accepted the order of the CCPD in this case and is in the process of issuing a fresh advertisement. Our third victory in recent months has been against Employees Provident Fund Commission (an intervention we engaged in on the request of Mr. Prateek Nikam). Through this, we have been able to get the post of Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner in that organization identified for reservation for the blind. The fourth case is the one you have so kindly circulated. Perhaps we should post this information on Access India and on other list serves. With best wishes, Sincerely Yours, Prof. Anil K. Aneja. He approached AICB and after hearing his sad story, we filed a case on his behalf in Rajasthan High Court with the help of Mr. Subhash Vashishth, our friend and a staunch supporter of disabled persons and Mr. Dinesh Gujar, Chief Manager, PNB, Jaipur. It took more than 4 and a half years when Mr. Jamaluddin could get justice. The Court has ordered for payment of his salary from the date of his appointment and has also asked the Madarsa Board to retain his services as the petitioner is graduate with B.ED. degree. The petitioner has already received arrears of his salary and has expressed his grateful thanks to AICB, Sh. Subhash Vashishth and Mr. Dinesh Gujar. AICB’s advocacy cell under the Chairmanship of Dr. Anil K. Aneja always fights for the rights of blind persons and this is one more example of our efforts. with kind regards, J. L.
