Thank you for showing your interest in joining Fusion, and to writing to me for the same. Fusion is a face to face social networking platform which my organization launched in Delhi in 2013 November. We have had over 20 sessions here in Delhi till now. The last one was a picnic at the deer park in Delhi. This is basically a platform to get people with and people without disabilities to come together and interact socially and get to know each other and develop friendships and build partnerships. Most disabled people have no opportunity to mingle with the non disabled world and so they are left out of all the social activities that non disabled people are engaging in. And due to this, most of us disabled people live in their very small world and ultimately do not get to experience all that this world has to offer! I have been very lucky and have had all the opportunities to mingle and live in an inclusive environment and have had the opportunity to taste all the flavors of life and due to which, I am today a happy and well settled person. As you may be aware, I am a grandmother of 3 children, and have a happily married life and a great profession, which I have managed to carve out for myself! I have been through a very challenging life, and still there are challenges in my life, but, that is with all of us no? But yet, I have managed to do all that I have ever wanted to do! Well, I feel that there is a very great need for people with disabilities to mingle with the non disabled community, and this should happen without any strings attached, and only then can they can expand their outlook on life and this will also give them a chance to develop healthy relationships and partnerships with others! We need to stop thinking of getting married or dating disability or non disability! We have to look at people as people, and need to understand that it is a person that we need to marry or date, and disability need not get in the way! It is the values and thoughts that need to match! But, because there are very few chances for us to get around and meet a large group of humans, due to various constraints our disabilities put upon us, we simply have no way of expanding our out look! Also we don't have the chance of finding ways to come across enough people to choose our friends from, also vice versa! Even this makes us a mystery for the non disabled people! They look at us as disabled only, and not humans like them! So Fusion tries to bring together all people so we get an opportunity to look beyond disability and relax and socialize and experience various great and not so great experiences that society has in store for all of us! This will give you more insite into my life and what I mean by opportunities to live an inclusive life! Now how you can join: We at the moment are only having this happening in Delhi, but we need this to happen all over the country! Hopefully you people will make this happen in other cities as well!
