1 for these requirements of making ppts and writing up article manuscripts and using statistical softwares such as “R” would it be wiser to switch over to a windows based platform ? PL] You can use R from the commandline therefore a mac should work equally well. 2 would thees statistical softwares be accessible with other screen reader softwares such as JAWS or NVDA ? PL] Some of them. I cannot comment on SPSS. 3 are there list members using any of these softwares ? if so , what does your wisdom say ? 4 what kind of citation managing softwares are accessible with JAWS and NVDA ? PL] Try Microsoft Word 2016. I do not know of any other citation management software and cannot comment further. 5 do you know of any way i can pick up and hone my skills using these softwares i.e JAWS ,NVDA, etc and using those for tasks of making ppts etc ? PL] There is little documentation on making presentations with screen readers. I used to teach a course at cavitraining.com on creating presentations which you may want to get. There is some documentation in jaws help and accesstechnologyinstitute.com may have something. There are however plenty of free tutorials on NVDA.
