That's good then. Frankly I am not sure of the exact usefulness of the
increase speed. I just used it to have fun like recording something and
playing them to people in higher speed.

Thanks, but you still have not mentioned as to what does increase speed by
100% stand for. I don't think I should be having any memory problem because
originally my dell laptop came with 512RAM, which, at my own expense I have
increased to 1 more GB, so now at present the total size of my computer's
RAM is 1536MB.

Okay: Let me be more descriptive. I was in a hurry this morning. When you
open the sound recorder, it opens a blank file with approximately of one
minute duration. Now let's say you want to increase it's size. Go to effect
and then click decrease speed. Each time you do it, the file becomes bigger
and bigger. Say for example, two minutes in your first attempt, four minutes
in your second attempt, eight minutes in your third attempt and so on. So
it's not all that bad you see. If you do it for example six times like this,
then you'll have a file with 62 minutes duration. You can save the file and
start the recording from the beginning of the file. You can also create the
WAV file with K1000. I am specifically mentioning this since I am aware of
your usage of this software. Open a chapter of a book in K1000. It should be
of something like 25 pages. Go to create an audio file. Select "all pages
will be processed and then WAV format. Also select the option to put all
those pages in a single file. Now you'll have a WAV file of something like
an hour and half duration. So open this file in sound recorder and begin
recording from the begining of the file. That's it and you should be good to
go. Again as I mentioned, you may get the less memory message, when it
happens, just increase the virtual memory size. I'll touch up on the aspect
of making the recorded file in to a fully audible audio in my next mail.

What does then "increase speed" stand for? and also, would that mean that if
we have to record something which is approximately of a one hour duration or
so, we'll have to perform the step described in your very first mail for as
many as 60 times?

Decrease speed means what can be played in one minute is increased to two
minutes. However do not perform those steps of the previous mail after you
complete the recording since it will mess-up your recorded track. So you
should do it before you begin the recording process.

So now the question arises: what is the maximum duration that we can keep?
and also, it doesn't announce anything when we decrease the same, is there
any way to confirm that it has really increased the speed? and also let me
know what does the "increase speed by 100%" mean?

You can go to effect and then decrease speed. each time you decrease the
speed, the length of the track gets doubled.
