As part of standardizing the health insurance exclusions, IRDAI has shown
some positive effort in providing insurance to people with disabilities
including those with genetic disabilities. It still leaves some section of
people with disabilities, but that is a battle we need to take up.
Through a circular dated September 27, 2019, which is available here:

flag=1> &flag=1 IRDAI has mandated all insurers to ensure that new
policies
filed on or after October 1 2019, and existing policies filed from April
1,
2020 onwards should be in compliance with the circular mentioned above.
I would take a look at new products when put up on website by some of the
prominent insurers to see how they are complying with it and are there any
bottlenecks to be addressed. Would like to thank everyone who contributed
to
taking insurance for people with disabilities to this level.
