Dear all, hope each access indian is safe in this pandemic situation. Friends as the subject line indicates that I am using a broadband connection offered by a local ISP in Kolkata. I have a wifi router with single antenna and a basic modem which converts the fiber signal into normal electronic signal. Now the problem is that, when we use apps like hotstar and prime video, the wifi starts lagging and buffering starts. This continues until I restart the connection. I complaint to my cable operator. He also suggest the same thing or change the wifi router as the router become old now. But I would like to know the root cause of this issue. Now the question is that how do I insure weather the issue pursist with the router or the modem. As I was using this router with the cat5 cable with same operator and the router works fine however the speed issue was there. Or should I go for big giants like airtel or jio. Guise please suggest me as far as the tariffs are concerned, the local ISPs has more attractive plans then jio and airtel.
