Should I call my sister to download an E-aadhar card being tech-savvy?
Dear friends out there, a few days ago, we had an e-mail where the
accessibility concerns of UDID card was raised.
Today, I went to download an e-aadhar card for me and found that the
website is completely inaccessible.
It is disheartening to see the state of affairs of the governmental
websites with regards to accessibility
Every governmental website has put a link about screen-readers on
clicking those, they preach the blind about screen-readers.
What seems totally ignored is that the government which has launched
so called “accessibility campaign” has forgotten to make its own
websites screen-readers compatible.
There is no audio captcha in Aadhar Card website and picture smart
feature of jaws yields useless results.
Let me also note that the captchas are very difficult and they are a
combination of small and capital letters along with special characters
and numbers.
To my utter shock, we are required to fill in the captcha to get an
OTP which is itself a medium to ensure security!
Is it always possible to call a sister or a friend to help?
What about a blind individual living alone?
What about the blind cupple?
