Greetings, this may be a bit early, but we are just there, general elections 2024 is just round the corner! Any thoughts on the below will be helpful as we get prepared for exercising our rights! 1. Accessibility of polling Places? how will we know that the polling locations are equipped with ramps, elevators, and other facilities to ensure individuals with mobility impairments can easily access and navigate the premises? 2. What Assistive Technologies are Available? Will accessible voting machines and assistive technologies be provided at polling stations to accommodate voters with different disabilities, such as visual or hearing impairments? Is election-related information, including voter guides and ballots, available in accessible formats such as Braille, large print, and electronic formats? 3. Will Poll Workers be Trained to Assist Voters with Disabilities? 4. What are the measures taken to ensure that transportation options to polling places are accessible for individuals with disabilities? The RPD act 2016 recognizes persons with disabilities as equal citizens with the right to participate in political and public life on an equal basis with others and calls for accessible voting polling booths, availability of accessible voting machines and materials to ensure that persons with disabilities, including visual impairments, can independently exercise their right to vote.
