Please teach them to be rational rather being emotional on these parts. I have gone with such uncountable experiences and maturity comforts you by ages.
Also I feel that we should not waste our timing to sensitise everybody on the earth. Sometimes harsh responses will touch their heart. Once I was having my drink and someone who was seated in front seat ask does he also take? Then I straight away replied Am I not a human. Then he started conversing with me in a friendly manner. And what can be done for the same? Sad reality out of an age-old-perception is, our society is built on traditional thought to see disability ONLY charity-based. Therefore Young, educated, highly qualified people with disability with disability and people who work in this sector should NOT get demoralised or upset by these incidents. They only show us how still there is lack of awareness about Rights-based disability, around us. So this is challenge for us. So take out 2-3 minutes and without getting angry, annoyed explain to these people that persons with disability like "me",like "my student" dont need charity, pity. They are first persons like you and me Sir. Only difference is they have a disability like vision deficiency. With education and qualifications they are equally, some times more competent and qualified. Technology and education have empowered them.As per the Constitution of India which governs all of us, Sir these PswD have equal rights to FULLY participate in the day-today development process in the society ON PAR WITH OTHERS...And as per law if they cant get this participation anywhere in public spaces due to barriers, it is OUR DUTY Sir to work/raise voice as an inclusive society to remove these barriers so that their participation is Full and on par with others. So Sir, this young man in front of you does not need free ice cream from you, he wants a hand of empathy from you. So Sir, this young student in front of you does not need free tuition from you for you to achieve Punya, he and all other persons with disability want your hand of empathy सहसंवेदना...Spread this message around and change people's mindset towards disability...that will fetch Punya for you🙏 On Tue, 7 May, 2024, 9:56 am Austin Pinto, <austinpinto.xavi...@gmail.com <mailto:austinpinto.xavi...@gmail.com> > wrote: only 1 thing can be done. if some1 says something, you can ask them like for example why will you get punya by teaching me, you cant get punya by teaching some sighted person? and so on. Could you please help me. 1. Di, I am a visually impaired MBA student, pursuing MBA from an IIM. I was with a senior at the grocery store of our campus, i waited as the senior got ice cream for both of us. The shopkeeper said, "inko bolo kal aane k liye, kal meri taraf se mai inko kuch dunga. Ice cream ya juice kuch dunga meri taraf se." Which roughly translates to, "ask him to come tomorrow, I'll give him an ice cream or juice from my side." So the question is why would the shopkeeper have said the same? I am an MBA student, I was wearing clean clothes, I was holding a forty thousand rupees phone in one hand and a white stick in the other hand. I don't understand did he think I can't afford a Rs 50 ice cream? I am paying the equal amount of fees but upon my survey he never said anything like this to any of the sighted or non disabled students. Why was the ice cream ? For merely being blind? 2. Di, one of my batchmates said, "how is the preparation for the exams going? Do one thing, come let me teach you, I'll get punya by teaching you." Why is it? Why can't people with blindness just exist? What is this attachment of punya if we help the blind we'll get punya? Are we humans or some divine entity. If you don't get punya by helping or teaching a sighted or a non disabled person then why punya from the blind? Please suggest how I can help my student, as clearly, she is in a lot of stress by these experiences. Regards. Cauvery She/her. -- Disclaimer: 1.
