As part of Banks continued commitment to fostering inclusion and accessibility, Union Bank of India proudly marked World White Cane Safety Day on 15th October 2024 with several significant initiatives aimed at empowering our visually impaired employees and raising awareness on disability inclusion across the Bank. Here are some key highlights of our efforts: 1. Launch of JAWS Screen Reader training : in collaboration with Union Access, the Bank's Digital Learning Unit launched a new e-Learning Course on JAWS Screen Reader Training for our visually impaired employees. This course is designed to enhance workplace productivity by providing advanced JAWS skills, helping employees contribute more effectively and advancing their professional growth. 2. Social Media Campaign on Disability Inclusion: To mark White Cane Safety Day, Union Bank engaged thousands of followers through an awareness campaign across our social media platforms. The campaign focused on the importance of disability inclusion, accessibility, and the role of technology in empowering persons with disabilities. 3. The Chief General Manager of HR sent a heartfelt message to all employees of the Bank, underscoring the significance of White Cane Safety Day. In his message, he highlighted that the white cane symbolizes independence and confidence for those with visual impairments. He stated, "Independence and equality are fundamental human rights. By ensuring a barrier-free environment and supporting colleagues with visual impairments, we can make a meaningful difference.
