As we all know, when any individual with disability faces rights
violations, the person can file a complaint on the CCPD website and
advocate without hiring a lawyer. However, CCPD has only recommendatory
power instead of mandatory power, so it cannot effectively protect the
rights of Persons with Disabilities or provide justice.
If CCPD gets mandatory power:
• Persons with Disabilities’ rights can be enforced more easily in daily
life.
• Individuals with disabilities can get justice faster instead of going to
the High Court or Supreme Court.
• CCPD will be able to impose penalties ranging from ₹10,000 to ₹5 lakh and
sentence guilty persons to imprisonment.
• Accessibility will improve because Persons with Disabilities will trust
CCPD and advocate for themselves.

I am a student with VI (blind). @Office_of_CCPD has only recommendatory
power, not mandatory power. How can it protect disability rights? It’s a
toothless tiger wasting taxpayer money. @PMOIndia @narendramodi
@rashtrapatibhvn Please give it mandatory power to enforce rules!
