Thank you. I am glad to share with you all that 2 days ago, during a workshop, I met Rajesh Aggarwal Sir, who is the Secretary of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities and CCPD. He himself mentioned, “Ashutosh tags me on Twitter.” This is relevant because it shows that authorities do read posts on X (Twitter). That’s why I always encourage Persons with Disabilities to raise their issues on X (Twitter) in a proper and constructive manner.
I again requested him to livestream CCPD hearings on YouTube because CCPD's powers are not binding in nature, public awareness and visibility can create pressure on companies to make their platforms accessible for Persons with Disabilities. He responded by saying that Person with Disability is not comfortable with livestreaming their own hearings on YouTube. I replied, “Please livestream the hearings of companies who are being called out for inaccessibility.” He responded positively to this idea. For reference, I’m attaching my previous X post regarding this idea: https://x.com/Sugamyata/status/1834316531645513773?t=lNgB1kWLsOFkgY7ilM_wog&s=08 In his speech, he also mentioned that we want students with visual impairments to start giving exams on computers from primary classes. I had already created two videos with Ashoka University on the practical challenges, solutions and current issues for giving exams on computers. These videos are India’s first program on this topic. This was my own initiative. Fortunately, webinars recordings are now in the public domain, and I’m attaching the link here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1qTVLJZOKqXdQT6pc5jPJWBRtE-bEElIf?usp=sharing **To access the "vtt" (captions and transcript) files, please download them and access them using Notepad or Word. In the evening, former Chief Justice of India, D.Y. Chandrachud sir, mentioned that CCPD’s powers should be increased and that individuals with disabilities should also come together and collectively advocate for improvement. I have already covered both of these topics in a previous brainstorming session. It was again India’s first kind of session where students, research scholars, professors, accessibility professionals, employees, NGOs, a lawyer, start-up founder and a retired civil servant etc came together in a student-led discussion. We brainstormed on how SCPD and CCPD powers can be strengthened, how individuals with disabilities can do effective advocacy, and how accessibility can be improved. Some participants shared their personal challenges, and three shared their experiences of CCPD hearings.
