Please find below a summary of GAAD 2025 activities by Union Bank of India: Leadership Commitment: A powerful message from the Executive Director was shared with all employees, highlighting the importance of the bank’s mission -Making Accessibility a Reality. The message encouraged every employee to make accessibility a natural part of Union Bank’s culture, supporting dignity, fairness, and opportunity for all. Digital Learning Initiatives: The Digital Learning Unit launched two easy-to-follow e-learning modules on Mobile Accessibility Essentials, made for Android and iOS app developers in the banking sector. These modules, created by the Union Access team, help developers gain the skills needed to build accessible digital solutions. Union Gyan Kasauti Online Quiz: To spread more awareness, the Union Gyan Kasauti online quiz focused on “Embedding Digital Accessibility in Banking Services.” Thousands of employees joined in, which greatly improved understanding of disabilities and accessibility in banking. Thought Leadership at the Inclusive India Summit: Shri Rahul Gambhir, Chief Manager, Union Access, represented the bank as a panellist at the “Inclusive India Summit” on May 15, 2025, organized by DEPwD, SBI Foundation, and NAB Delhi. He shared Union Bank’s accessibility journey and shared thoughts on making the banking system more inclusive. Awareness Series – Empower Through Access: Union Access sent out a weekly internal email awareness series called “Celebrating GAAD 2025 – Understanding Digital Accessibility,” helping employees keep learning and stay engaged. This email awareness is an ongoing weekly activity. This month we are focussed on GAAD. Social Media Advocacy: The bank posted special messages on all its social media channels, raising awareness about accessibility and inclusion among its large number of followers. Magazine Article In the Bank’s monthly IT magazine for May 2025, an article titled “Towards Inclusive Banking: Implementing Part 1 of IS 17802 Accessibility Standards” was published by Union Access. Special Podcasts for Employees Two Union Podcasts were published on 16th May 2025 and are available in the Union Podcasts for the employees: 1. Podcast on Accessible Banking – 4:03 minutes 2. Global Accessibility Awareness Day – 3:53 minutes In-house Publication in Accessible Formats A Hindi language book titled “Grahak Seva Ke Vividh Aayam”, containing more than 200 pages and 30 articles, was converted into accessible PDF and EPUB formats to support employees with print disabilities. Union Bank and Daisy Forum of India Partnership The Bank has successfully onboarded more than 500 visually impaired employees on the Sugamya Pustakalya platform, providing them access to accessible books. Knowledge Transfer Session On 16th May 2025, Rahul Gambhir, conducted a knowledge transfer session for Eyeway Helpdesk counsellors. The session covered providing banking access for persons with disabilities (PwDs), current regulatory guidelines, latest sector developments, directives from DFS, IBA, RBI, and solutions to better serve helpdesk callers.
