Hi All, It's been quite a while since I shared any of my 3D art here. I actually completed this piece a few months ago and kept meaning to share it, so here it finally is.
This time, I worked on a 3D model of a tree titled *The Last Shelter*. Like most of my artworks, this one comes with a story. A couple of years ago, I was sitting on the sand at Kite Beach in Dubai. As artists tend to do (much to the annoyance of everyone around them!), I started collecting seashells and brought them back with me. Later, at an event, I noticed someone about to throw away the glass bowl that had come with a flower bouquet. Before it could meet its fate, I quite literally grabbed it and brought that home too. The shells and the bowl sat around for a long time without any purpose, until they finally found their place in this artwork. *The Last Shelter* is a miniature tree with a thick, textured trunk rising from the centre of a square glass bowl. The trunk twists upward into a network of rugged branches that spread out in all directions, creating a canopy-like structure. Scattered across the branches are small leaves in shades of red, orange and gold, giving the impression of autumn. At the heart of the tree, nestled among the branches, is a small bird's nest holding a few eggs. For me, that nest is the soul of the artwork, a symbol of safety, hope and new beginnings. The tree appears old and weathered, but it continues to stand guard over the fragile life it shelters. The base of the artwork is covered with seashells collected from Dubai, arranged around the tree like a shoreline or a patch of coastal ground. The entire model is created using aluminium foil, paper and acrylic colours, with the rescued bouquet bowl serving as the base. It was quite satisfying to finally put both the shells and the bowl to good use. I've attached a photograph of the artwork. As for what's next, I'm thinking of creating a 3D mermaid in slumber on beach rocks. Knowing my pace with these things, God knows how long that'll take! With regards, Aishwarya -- Disclaimer: 1.
