Dear Members, I am Lovely Sarkar Soti from Rising Star Khilte Chehre. We are currently initiating an evidence-based public information exercise regarding blind-accessible tourism in India. Through our work with visually impaired travellers, we have seen that accessibility is often discussed in terms of ramps, lifts and toilets, while the needs of visually impaired citizens require a deeper understanding of audio information, safe navigation, Braille, tactile orientation, trained staff, accessible ticketing and dignity-led assistance.
At this stage, we are inviting selected experts and stakeholders to share broad inputs on what kind of public information should be studied to understand accessibility gaps in tourist places, monuments and public visitor spaces. We would be grateful for your guidance on this, drawing from your experience in disability rights, accessibility, tourism, policy, RTI, media, CSR or public systems. This is not a complaint exercise. It is a constructive attempt to understand existing systems and help India move towards more inclusive, sensory and accessible tourism. We are limiting detailed questions and documents to private discussions with trusted contributors. Your input will help us shape this responsibly.
