We're coming to the closing stages of preparing Leasey version 11.5. This
week it's been very busy as we draw near to the end of creating the first
public build of this product version. Here's a summary of what we've been
doing:
We've finished preparing documentation and uploaded it to Leasey Quick
Steps so people can ask specific questions and play the Leasey Quizical
Game.
Probably the biggest change is in Leasey Media Centre. We added the ability
for podcast episodes to be transcribed. A podcast episode of an hour takes
approximately 40 seconds to transcribe. While you are waiting, messages
appear in speech and Braille to advise you of progress.
Summaries of podcasts are also available. If you wish, you can request a
summary of the podcast including key points.
In Leasey Database Manager, we added a utility to find book information for
people who wish to create databases of reading lists. Some of the testers
are doing this already.
Lots of people enjoy reading books and keeping track of progress.
You type the title and author. Leasey returns details about the book such
as the publication date, number of pages, synopsis and whether it is part
of a series. It also lists all the books in the series and provides you
with a quick summary of each book.
The wizard examines your current database and guides you as to where the
details should be placed.
The aforementioned Book lookup tool is also available outside of database
manager for those people who are interested in the information but who do
not wish to create databases.
In Leasey Database Manager, we provide five sample databases which can be
accessed to give users a good start on how to create them. The databases
can be removed, reinstated or modified to suit requirements.
In Leasey Word, ChatGPT Tools, we created an interface where you can review
the individual changes ChatGPT has made and decide whether to accept or
reject each one; a little like Word's Revisions/Track Changes feature.
Rather than you having to read the entire document, we tell you the
original word, original sentence, and what ChatGPT is suggesting as a
change. When you have selected or rejected each suggestion, you can work
your way through the summary list again if you wish before applying all the
changes to the document.
This is enabled by default but it can be disabled.
We'll keep you updated next week and give you the link to the documentation.
