Sure, why not? As far as my understanding goes, It works something like this. The HP notebook computer relies on some other branded sound card and video graphic display device to provide audio and video output to its users. Take for instance the laptop which I'm currently using. This laptop has a soundcard called 'Conexent hd audio', which requires a driver of its own to function. It also uses a video graphics adapter known as 'NVDIA force go 6180' which again requires its own driver. You can determine the name of the soundcard in use by going to device manager. After knowing the name of your soundcard and video device, you can just google it to find the compatible drivers for your device. It's as simple as that.
