This is the help which I got from online M S word 2003.

I tried it, and is helpful, if you would like to turn off the bullet, and 
you dont use it, and hence I thought may be useful.

I had some problem, and so I used jaws cursor.

1. On the Tools menu, click AutoCorrect Options, and then click the 
AutoFormat As You Type tab.

2. Under Apply as you type, select or clear the Automatic bulleted lists or 
Automatic numbered lists check box.
