Hi ved, Who told you that you cannot open a demat account with ICICI Bank if
you use a thumb impression instead of signing? I hope you are wrong.
There is nothing which stops a visually impaired person from opening and
operating a demat account with a thumb impression.
You remember last year we worked on the NSDL guidelines. The new circular
was passsed in August 2007. The same one that Roopakshi has been forwarding
to this group recently.
If you or others find this problem please let me know and I will follow up
with NSDl.
the unfortunate part of advocacy is that you can get the best circulars and
guidelines passed but the average visually impaired person is uninformed
and still suffers at ground level and the person who has fought for the
circular is not informed so cannot continue the fight.
If you are having a problem with Stock trading account then you will have to
wait because I have put it into the recently submitted Banking guidelines on
Manish's advice. If it still does not work then I am going to SEBI.
