CPI plea in HC over disqualification of disabled medicos

CPI Andhra Pradesh Council Secretary K Narayana today sent a
telegram to the High Court requesting that it be treated as a
Public Interest Litigation (PIL) on the issue of disqualification
of disabled medical students in the MBBS course.

In the telegram, he submitted that according to media report, the
admission of 20 disabled students to the MBBS course had been
cancelled. The cancellation had taken place after the students
completed one-year of course, following a "direction" from the
Medical Council of India.

"Why these 20 disabled students should suffer for the mistake of
NTR Health University," he contended and submitted that the MCI's
behaviour was "inhuman and against the principles of natural
justice."
