Hello all,
My friend Rajinder Singh Negi of NAB Delhi had sought some information from State Bank of India under RTI Act. He after much followup was able to get the vital information which reveals the poor state of affairs as far as employment of persons with disabilities is concerned. There are only 96 visually impaired in the 1.7 lakh SBI staff. See details below.
Can we do anything about this?

Subject: Antipathy Attitude of recruiter

Hello to all
Today I would like to share one of the important information received
from State Bank of India through their Ref No: RTI 647 specially
pertinent to recruitment in SBI, with this hope that , this
information will play significant role to understand the real
situation which is as follow:
As on 31/03/2008, out of 179205 employees only 1067 are physically
challenged i.e. 0.595407% of vacancies are filled up with physically
challenge person which is very less in number and violate the
objective and provision regarding section 33 of "Person with
Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full
Participation) Acts1995":

Category -Total Staff -Visually Challenged -Orthopedic -Hearing Impaired

-57765 -14 -261 -04

-76818 -56 -471 -57
Sub-staff - 44622 - -157 -21 Total 5 -96 -889 -82

Now you can conceive the current situation and degree of work needed
to implement the right of disabilities.

"BE AWARE, DO AWARE"

With warm regards
