Dear Friend,
I have been using Victor Reader Stream for nearly one year & have had an
extremely satisfying experience with it.
I primarily use the Stream to record meetings & record the articles read
out by my readers. Apart from this, I use the Stream extensively during
travelling to listen to audio books & text files. These audio books are
in both mp3 & Daisy format.
The Victor Stream Reader has easy-to-use features & can transfer data to
& from the computer through a USB cable. The required USB cable is
included in the box along with the Stream. Apart from the USB cable &
Stream, the box also contains a charger, an additional USB cable for
connecting thumb drives, a 1 GB memory card, a pair of earphones & the
instruction manual on a CD.
The default 1 GB card allows for nearly 60 hours recording. You can use
memory cards of a higher capacity to increase the capacity of the Stream.
The manufacturer of the Stream, Humanware of Canada, provides free
software updates. These updates are released every six months
approximately.
A free software called Humanware Companion is also provided on the CD to
help in transferring data from the Stream to the computer & vice-versa.
The software can also be freely downloaded from the Humanware website &
also contains a converter for converting the audio recorded on the Stream
into wav files.
The Stream has a pair of rechargeable batteries & can be recharged within
a couple of hours. But when you are charging the Stream for the first
time, the process will take four hours. Additionally, you may also need
to purchase an adapter for charging the Stream.
The Stream allows the user to set multiple bookmarks within a book &
within multiple books. Navigation using bookmarks is possible. In
addition, Daisy books can be navigated page-wise.
