I am pleased to inform you that the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is organizing an Inter-regional Forum on the "Creativity Inventions - A Better Future for Humanity in the 21st Century", in cooperation with the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Government of India, and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) at Crowne Plaza Hotel, New Delhi, from 11th to 13th of November 2009. Innovation is a key driver of a nation's technological, economic, social and cultural development. Intellectual Property assists in harnessing innovations both for the benefit of the inventor as well as for the society and thereby, helps in promoting innovation. In a market-driven economy, intellectual property provides a competitive advantage to the inventors and is inextricably linked with business success. The objective of the conference is to engage the stakeholders to share their experiences, articulate views and provide meaningful recommendations regarding "Global Economy and Intellectual Property", "The Role of Intellectual Property in Promoting, Generating and Accessing New Technologies", "Effective National Intellectual Property and Innovation Eco System", "Creativity Challenge - Sustained Generation of and Access to Knowledge", "Use of Intellectual Property for Business Competitiveness" and "Building Respect for Intellectual Property". The Conference will be attended by representatives from Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, etc. It will also be attended by representatives from the Government of India, the Association of Southeast Nations (ASEAN) Secretariat, the ASEAN Working Group on Intellectual Cooperation (AWGIPC), as well as other speakers from Japan, Republic of Korea, Cambodia, Philippines and Thailand. I have been invited to speak at this Conference on "Assisting Visually Impaired Persons (VIPs)" at 12.15 pm on November 12, 2009. I am required to speak for 15 minutes.
